MALIBU CANYON ROAD, which becomes Las Virgenes Road on the Calabasas side, runs 11 MILES across the Santa Monica Mountains between SR 1 and US 101. KANAN DUME ROAD runs 19 MILES from Agoura Hills and carries around 40,000 VEHICLES A DAY. Both are winding two-lane mountain roads with grades, blind bends and cyclists, and a long truck is slow on them.
