Guard-gated estate moves at Sherwood Country Club, with gate clearance, private-road limits and multi-truck days planned ahead
About Packing & Crating in Sherwood Country Club
Estate moves at Sherwood Country Club, the guard-gated golf community at Lake Sherwood in unincorporated Ventura County. Popeye Moving & Storage arranges gate clearance, plans for private-road limits and handles fine art, wine and pianos.
Sherwood Country Club is the private, guard-gated golf community at 320 West Stafford Road in the Lake Sherwood basin, reached from Potrero Road and Westlake Boulevard. The postal address says Thousand Oaks, but the club sits in unincorporated Ventura County, outside the Thousand Oaks city limits and outside Los Angeles County altogether. Homes are large estates on private roads around the course, and it is a different club from Sherwood Lake Club on Williamsburg Way, so we confirm which gate you are behind at the first call.
Local Issues
Common Packing & Crating Issues in Sherwood Country Club
Gate clearance
Every crew member and vehicle needs advance clearance. Without it the crew can be refused entry and the day is lost.
Private-road truck limits
The association sets length and weight limits on its roads, which decide the truck size and whether a shuttle is needed.
Multi-day scale
Large estates can need several trucks and more than one day, which is planned and priced at the estimate rather than stretched on the day.
High-value contents
Fine art, wine, pianos and oversized furniture need crating, careful inventory and a valuation decision before packing starts.
Fire weather
The Lake Sherwood basin is designated high fire hazard, so red flag days and road closures can shift a date and the schedule carries slack.

The truck leaving is not the end of a move; the boxes are. Our crews open them, put things where you want them and take the packing material away. You decide what goes where, and we do the lifting and the clearing.
Learn more →Custom Crating in Sherwood Country Club
Some items should not travel in a carton, however well padded. Custom crating gives a single piece its own wooden case, measured and braced so it cannot move inside. Popeye Moving & Storage crates art, glass, stone and fragile furniture for local moves, long distance moves and export shipments.

Packing & Crating in Sherwood Country Club - FAQs
Inside the gates the roads are private, so the association sets the rules on truck size, hours and where a vehicle may stand. Outside the gates, county roads are handled by Ventura County Public Works Roads and Transportation, which publishes guidance on encroachment and trip permits for oversized vehicles. We confirm the permit position with Ventura County for your address before the move is dated.
Typical Los Angeles ranges, not a quote: white glove moving runs $150 to $250 per hour, custom crating $150 to $800+ per crate, fine art and antique moving $300 to $1,200+ and piano moving $200 to $600. Distance and double drive time add to the total. Your price is set in writing after an estimate and before anything is loaded.
Yes. Popeye offers free in-home and video estimates. On an estate with several structures, art, wine and a piano, an in-home survey is the reliable route because a phone figure would miss too much. A video survey can lead to a guaranteed binding price on a simpler move.
We send crew names and vehicle details ahead through the homeowner or the association, and confirm move-in windows and any certificate of insurance the association requires. Clearance is settled when the date is booked, not on arrival, so the crew is not held at the gatehouse.
Yes. Popeye handles wine, fine art, pianos and chandeliers. Art can be custom crated, wine is inventoried and packed by bottle count, and each item of extraordinary value should be listed with its own declared value. If the pieces need to wait for a new home, Popeye's vaulted storage in Mar Vista is climate controlled for temperature and humidity.
Because permits, road authority and enforcement here run through Ventura County, not Los Angeles County or the City of Thousand Oaks. Oversized vehicle enforcement on county roads is the California Highway Patrol. A move from Los Angeles County crosses a county line, and we flag that at the estimate.
